The Commission Process

Jewellery commissions are the most rewarding work we do here at Nosallis Designs. To see and experience the thrill our customers get when receiving their finished piece of jewellery is second to none.

Our commissions offer the opportunity to create a piece of jewellery based on an idea or theme that has a special meaning to you or your loved one.

Maybe someone has left you a piece of jewellery that has huge sentimental value, but isn’t suitable to wear or use for you. We can customise or use materials from your existing piece to create you a more suitable design that will provide a long and lasting memory you can enjoy.

The commissioning process usually takes one of two directions depending on the complexity of the design being discussed.

Drawing & illustration

Drawings are produced to illustrate the proposed design at a cost of £25*. The client will be able to provide feedback on the illustration process until a design is signed off.

On completion of the design ‘on paper’ an accurate costing will be provided based on the materials chosen by the client.

A 50% deposit* is due before the production of your design commences. Once the piece of jewellery is completed a confirmation email will be sent requesting the remaining balance. As soon as your payment is received your commission will be sent to you free of charge by Royal Mail special delivery or a recorded signed for service depending on value.

Each commission comes with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity and Originality’.

Sculpting a model

When a lot of detail is required in the design as in the example below the piece will be sculpted by hand. The price for a sculpture will depend on the size and detail in the design please email your design details to paul@nosallisdesigns.com for a price.

Prices for models start from £100*.

During the modelling process, photos of the model will be exchanged with the client to be able to provide feedback and if required, the sculpture can even be posted to the client to see the design first hand, (an additional cost of £20 is normally charged for this).

Dracula Devil belt buckle

Once the modelling process is signed off the design can then be priced up in the metal of their choice, including any precious or semi precious stones.

After the price has been agreed a 50% deposit* is required.

The design will then be moulded and cast in the metal of your choice, finished and polished, before being sent to be assayed and hallmarked.

On return to us, your jewellery will have a final polishing, we will email you requesting the remaining balance and to let you know your commission is ready. As soon as your payment is received your commission will be sent to you free of charge by Royal Mail special delivery or a recorded signed for service depending on value.

Each commission comes with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity and Originality’.

Notes

* Any deposits received for drawings, models / sculpts or commissions are non refundable.

A few words from Paul

“I have been making jewellery since 2003 in this time I have designed & made many different commissions for a number of clients.

The processes I use depend upon the complexity and detail in the design. If the design has a lot of detail in, I would hand sculpt it once the design has been agreed upon it would then be moulded & cast. I also make designs from the raw material eg Silver, Gold etc. I NEVER use CAD programs or 3D printers.

My designs have been judged in a competition by the art critic of the times who commented on the quality of my work. I have also had one of my pieces bought by the last person to be trained by the Queens Goldsmiths.”

If you are intersted in any of the pieces you see on the website or would like to commission your own unique piece of jewellery contact us and we will be happy to discuss.
